Youth Harmony Workshops serve as a great introduction to barbershop harmony, and close-harmony a cappella singing. A typical workshop will see students from several different schools gathered together, rehearsing and performing age-appropriate arrangements, conducted by top-notch clinicians, and having tons of fun! These workshops are held all around the United States and Canada at little to no cost to you or your students. | ||||
| In cooperation with the Music Educators National Conference (MENC), our Society sponsors an outreach program to encourage the use of barbershop style music in school music programs. The purpose of the festival is not for use as a recruiting tool for barbershop chapters, but to encourage and attract young men into school vocal music curricula. Sheet music is provided by the Manitowoc Chapter, with selection of the numbers by the clinicians. A teaching quartet will be provided to aid the clinicians. Music will be available prior to the festival so the students may become familiar with it before the festival day. Local barbershoppers will be on hand for coaching and to help the young men learn the music, if necessary. The festival will be fun and educational, and will stress the importance of male involvement in vocal music, which can be enjoyed for the rest of their lives. The festival will be an all day session at Generose Enrichment Center at Silver Lake College in Manitowoc, with registration from 9:00 - 9:30 am, followed by rehearsals throughout the day. Lunch will be provided at Noon. At 4:00 pm, a show for the public will be presented with four numbers by the festival chorus. The Clipper City Chordsmen Chorus, the teaching quartet and chapter quartets will also perform. Parents, relatives, friends and all music lovers are encouraged to attend.
